Happy Day!

The sign of a good day.

When I went to the field and asked her if she wanted to go for a ride, she put her face in the bridle.

When I flipped the bucket and took at least 10 jumps to get on, she stood perfectly still.

My horse never stands still. So for her to stand was an indication she really wanted to ride.

So we had an enjoyable afternoon ride, then I took Lil Star for a nice walk. She's even getting really good at lead and follow.

My jeans bring back memories of childhood and my favorite place to be...

Some of the Best Advice I got on Raising Kids

If your raising kids there are two things you should have plenty of.

Board games and Books!

Rainy days, Power outages, long road trips, down sick times, company, friends overnight, family picnics, and the famous I'M BORED.... days.

Why are they IMPORTANT?

Reading is the key. Being able to comprehend and understand what you read, unlocks the possibilities.
You can LEARN ANYTHING if you can read and comprehend what you read.

Board games teaches us how to win gracefully and lose with pride. How to 'play together' and 'get along'. Playing with others teaches us how to get along with others. Playing together teaches us how to share, patience to wait our turn, kindness towards others, how to relax and laugh at ourselves as well as with others.

It isn't about winning or losing.

It's about HAVING FUN & PLAYING TOGETHER.
Books and Games help us teach our children how to be happy, kind adults that are intelligent.

Claustrophobia

 Claustrophobic...

That was the answer. {The kick in the ribs that made me unable to breathe, yesterday}
Its not something I can cure, just deal with or get over. There is no magic pill to make it go away.
Its something that has been a part of me all my life, I must learn to live with.
I don't know when a place is going to trigger it until it happens.
I honestly thought with so many windows it would be ok.
But when the door shut and the hours dragged on...
Im still recovering... shit like this, hits you in the back of the knees and knocks you down. Many people don't understand. Its paralyzing, like depression. Takes a few to get back up. Some folks stay down cant get up.
MENTAL CONDITIONS ARE REAL DISABILITIES.

Be kind to others, you really don't know what's going on inside.

Rescue for Profit?

Ok, I know 'to rescue a stray' can be a costly event. Medical treatment, getting vaccines current and restoring their overall health, can be time consuming and expensive. I know, I've rescued a couple horses.

BUT

Before I get into this let me state, I understand why the city shelters charge a SMALL fee to adopt a pet. They provide for many and have for many years. The fee doesn't come close to the cost. That's why we pay taxes that in part support the animal shelters. Those taxes allow them to keep the adoption fees low. So people can actually afford to adopt a pet.

But are people finding a way to profit off of suffering pets.....

I stopped by a shanty looking shelter event, 10 x 10 pop up, with healthy mid aged puppies. The claim they were brought up from Mexico. Cute puppies. We have so many strays and unwanted animals in our own country I don't understand why we'd ship them in from other countries?

THE COST $1200.00

With a claim they've had shots, been fixed and chipped.

I would have gladly given $120 to adopt a puppy, but $1200 had the words SCAM written all over it.

I'm looking to find another puppy companion since my service dog passed away last Christmas. I paid $800 for her 16 years ago. She was pure bred, met her parents, could see her blood lines.....first shots NO CHIP, that was left to be MY CHOICE as it should be.

I'm concerned at the over priced costs to 'adopt a rescue', I think people are getting pretty rich off of animals suffering. Something isn't right. People are seeing a way to profit over others that pity the poor suffering pets.

and the SMALL REHOMING FEES that have reached almost $1000 in some cases.

If you want an animal rescued and to a good home KEEP THE COSTS LOW AND DO YOUR HOMEWORK THAT IT'S A GOOD HOME, they wouldn't be living at your shelters for so many years and the cost wouldn't be so high. The costs are high because of too many pets coming in and not going out.

Why I drive on E {Empty}

I'm famous for running on E {Empty} and running out of gas. My daughter buys me a AAA membership, cause it's easier than loading all the kids and bringing me gas.

Tonight, I'm all but out of gas at work. Hey, I made it to work! However, I knew I'd be walking to 4 corners because my truck would run out before I got out of the parking lot. I was joking around about it at work and a very kind customer came back with his gas can and got me a couple gallons to get to town. You see I work at a GAS STATION, however, our tanks are being replaced and there is no gas.

So, why do I drive on E.? I've had so many people give me crap about this..........

You see ~

Several years ago, I had my tank full and my car parked in my back yard. Of course that very night was the night MY CAR WAS STOLEN. The police found it later the next day wrapped around a pole - TOTALED. I've never filled my tank and left my car over night since.

If someone steals my vehicle, they won't get but 2 miles down the road. I put in what I need to get where I'm going and home again. Just enough to get to the gas station to do it again.

Here Comes the Sun ~ At last

This year the weather has been crazy for most of us. Washington has always had it's own weather, but this year has been special.

Last summer was really really hot. The winter was super cold. Spring.... Well we haven't really had spring. It's been colder than normal, as wet as normal, and not as much sun as normal. This year has not been normal.

Of course, with working, the weather and I never meet up and agree. It's beautiful outside when I'm at work and it pours down rain when I'm off. Or if I'm off and have appointments, it's super nice {Thankfully}. But if I'm off wanting to play with my horses.... it pours and pours and the wind blows and blows.

 This weekend is no different.

The temp. is what has changed. We've went from diving into the Arctic's to the Sun has come out and things are finally thawing out.

It's almost summer and we are finally seeing the spring weather we look forward to. Gardens are going to be late this year, it is still a bit wet and soggy.

Today, I start the training for a new position with Safeway. Of course the sun is out and in full glory. Got to run feed the horses and that's about all the time this morning. Hopefully this training won't take all day and the sun will still be out when I'm done.

A 20 minute ride would be better than no ride at all.

How's your weather doing?

Interesting Indeed

I was recently given an incredible job offer. Complete with benefits! I decided to pursue the offer and ended up getting the job. I gave my notice the other day.

And the following morning my boss comes in with an incredible counter offer.

So Now what?

One could spend all night tossing and turning over the pros and cons on each side of the coin.

Bottom line.......

If that was something you were thinking about offering me, you probably should have done it before I got another offer in the first place.

Of all the friends and family I've spoken too, we've all come to the same conclusion. So it's settled.

And I start a new job probably next week.

Always remember, when one door opens, look first before walking through and letting it shut behind you!! You can't always turn back.
