Christmas Cards

Well, the kids asked if we could do a picture of 'us' together, since it's been about a hundred years.... Chanelle thought it was her turn for a photo shoot, so we attempted to include her in the pictures. Mind you it took a few retakes... but this is about the best it's gonna get.

When we were setting up our pricing for photography work, we did quite a bit of online comparison and even requested a few quotes. Oh-my it's gotten expensive to have photographs taken!!

We made a commitment to be 'affordable quality' in our products and our photography productions.

So ~ when you see the price of $50 for 6 prints, rest assured - your getting a $500 professional sitting at a reasonable price! We don't do the print outs, you get to order those from your favorite photo shop.

Some folks have memberships to on line photo shops where they get 100 prints a month or free canvas prints. We give you digital files that are uploaded, to where you can access them at home and order out what you want. This allows you to take advantage of your memberships and bonus buys.

We love doing 'FUR BABY' photo shoots, which is another reason we set our price as it is. Sometimes pets don't cooperate in a 'studio' setting or a 15-minute time limit. We allow at least an hour, spending time with your fur babies to get them comfortable so they will act as natural as possible for their pictures.

We can apply your photographs to any of our product line. We have the machines here in our home studio which allows us to provide a faster turnaround time. Whether it's the portrait from a recent shoot we've done or old photographs you bring in. We love 'custom orders'. Helping preserve the memories to cherish for a lifetime.

I hope you take the time to explore @ Timbers Photography, enjoy the beauty of nature. Or maybe take a look through your old photo albums and I bet you can find a few pictures you would like to have on ornaments for the tree, perhaps a coffee mug, or maybe even on a couple shot glasses.?

Christmas Decorations already!

 Hard to believe
it's already Thanksgiving and Black Friday and Time to DECORATE!!

I managed to get the tree up and most of the inside work done. Hoping to get my son over to climb on the roof for Papa and put lights around the house.

Where did this year go? We spent so much time in doctor offices and at the hospital, it seems like we missed half of summer and all of the fall season.

My Grandsons turned 13 and 12 this past week! Teenagers already. They are all grown up so much and starting to get so interested in their friends, Grama isn't the 'one' anymore.

Feeling the whole
'empty nest' - 'sequil' - 'next generation'!

The quiet, the emptiness. Dust collecting on the toys. I'm hardly needed to watch anyone anymore, they are so independent, and my kids have gotten blessed each in their own situations. Jobs are improving, lifestyles are improving, no one has been able to buy a house just yet, but that too shall come in time.

Even the kids are getting so much. more grown up! My daughter has 4 grandkids of her own, and 3 of them are now in school.  I can't help but wonder if I'm going to be a great great grama in my lifetime. That would be so cool, no doubt.

I just can't believe how fast time has gone. How much everyone has grown, how far the family has come. Here we are at 'Christmas time' again. 6 birthdays to cover between Thanksgiving and Christmas day. On top of Christmas for over 2 dozen people...

Not only have I been busy making products for the weekend events, I've been working on ornaments for everyone in the family and each of the kids gets a mug with their own 'chosen' favorite photos. {Only you know about the ornaments, so shhhhh}

Tomorrow is going to be a grueling long day. We have to leave at 7 am and be set up and ready by 9 am to stay until 8 pm, to pack up and be out by 9 pm. 11 hours of 'sales time'. I just got done fixing and packing a cooler of food! Sandwiches, salad, fruit & cool whip, carrots and ranch for a snack, and the thermos is next to the coffee pot waiting to get filled. {Can't forget the coffee creamer this time}

Really need to see a 'good day'. We had a business meeting this morning and it's been decided that this location just doesn't fit our customer profile. We have 2 more events there before Christmas, and if it doesn't do better, I don't think we'll be doing that location again next holiday.

I don't think we'll actually be in the area! He's decided to sell the house after the first of the year and we've been looking around at 'cost per location' and 'what do you get for your buck' as far as 'rent' - house vs apartment.... Now to do some road trip research and go visit a few places and see how he likes it.

Me personally, where I go depends on where is my horse going to be. Is it a good place for her, and an improvement for 'us' to ride more. And of course the cost and value of the care she'll be given. Right now, my horse is in the best place I've ever boarded in the entire time I've had my horses!

Before you know it, Santa will be knocking bricks off the roof trying to find the chimneys that don't exist and it'll be time to ring in the new Year! 2024 - time for change. As always praying for answers for Papa's health and healing, praying for help in all aspects of life, and thanking the Lord for all He's done and doing in our lives, to bring us to where we need to be.

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving and survived the Black Friday sales crowds. God Bless and take care of each other.

Life happens so fast, take a minute to appreciate the ones around you!

Got to Have a few Nut Crackers around the house, to protect and bring good fortune over the Holidays.

Transformations

He knew we'd go through a stretch before it all worked out.

But, It's stressful, falling behind when you're trying to stay on top. Hard to stay positive and upbeat. Then remember the mental side of it. Makes it a little harder when you're fighting depression and other thoughts.

Ever since I dropped him off at the ER to get a text only minutes later telling me they are doing a surgical procedure....

I've been close by. He has NO ONE else.

So much has happened to him health wise the past year and more rapidly as time progresses. I worry about him. He's down to 110 pounds and he's eating.

So, we've put in calls to the doctors again. Hoping to get appointments and some more testing done. I've been helping him learn to cook so he can eat healthier, been helping him get his business off the ground a bit so he has something to keep his mind occupied. Social Security processing is a slow process. There is waiting for doctors to return information, waiting for other places to get all your documents turned in.

It's all part of the transformation.

Once he can get his disability, he can stabilize his bills and focus totally on his health. That's where he needs to get. He has no one else to help him out and would be lost on his own trying to navigate from working to full retirement.

He's considering selling the house and getting into something less expensive. Rentals have advantages when your a senior, if you find the right place. It would be good for him to not have to worry about crawling under the house or getting on the roof. He has dizzy spells and gets claustrophobic. Even though it's a small yard, it's still straining muscles he shouldn't be putting strain on.

I knew it would be tight, I pray Social Security sees his need and I'm really praying the doctors can finally give us answers over the next few appointments.

Meanwhile, Thanksgiving was a very blessed day. Many of the family stopped by and really helped bring his spirits up. I cooked a turkey for him, so he's got lots to eat for a few days! And we're doing the mall event this weekend together so I'm hoping that brings more positive energy to the situation.

Started decorating his house tonight for Christmas... always something that cheers him up.

Today's Thoughts.

Another day at the mall. It's getting a bit easier to sit for such a long day. The last couple hours are still a bit rough. My hip doesn't do well sitting for so long, so I end up hurting the last leg of the event.  We had a good day. Didn't quite make it to buy a Thanksgiving dinner, but we made some sales, did some networking and had a good time meeting the 'neighbors' and visiting with folks.

He's having a hard time. The 'procedure' seems to work. So there is some good news. The financial end of things isn't so good. Social security is a slow process. Meanwhile the 'business' we had hoped would carry him through isn't doing as well as hoped for. So there is plenty of stress there. He's losing weight at an unstoppable rate.

Last night he tells me again - "I feel like I'm dying". It kills me because I am watching him wither away. And I can't say, "No you're going to be okay". Because the doctors still haven't told us what's wrong and what can we do to fix him. Every day is a blessing right now. We really don't know if we'll have a tomorrow. He wasn't feeling good last night after the event and the depression is getting worse.

Need a few prayers, answers to know what direction to go. Peace to carry us through it.  Grateful and thankful for all God has done, and praying He continues to walk with me through this dark tunnel - we call life.

Great Gift Ideas

Veterans Day weekend -2023

The parade was rained out, so I didn't go. We did a little photo shooting here, set up the Christmas backdrop and displays. Had some fun with the cats, dog, kids and grandkids.

Chanelle wasn't too sure about sitting on the chair, but she eventually got the hang of it.  Getting her to put her ears up was another difficult task. I think we ended up with one shot with the ears 'sort of' up.?

It was nice to have some nights with the youngest grandchildren, and today I took a drive to see the older ones. It's been a long fall season without seeing any of them! I had to get my fix in! Mind you 'Miss Lulu' the St Bernard puppy at my daughters, missed us as much as the kids I think. I had to wash my coats when I got home from all the slobber. LOL.

It was a rough start this morning with printer malfunctions... I'm still Leary to switch back and use the other printer, now that the production printer is working again. I really don't understand what happened. Everything was fine a couple nights ago, I could print from either - then this morning, needed to do a quick print and ........

So thankful for tech support at Microsoft!! It really only took him a few minutes to find the problem and figure out a fix.

I spent the better part of last week working on the 'Business Plan' for Timbers Photography, Getting the plan laid out and adding points gradually as we think of them. It was a bit ironic that Friday's post in one of my groups spoke out about all business should have a 'Business Plan'. No matter how small and how long ago you started.  {They say great minds think alike.}

We've been adding a few new product photographs to his website, and I've been setting up a few 'smaller' displays for photographs to use as 'samples' when we apply at events. The event coordinators usually want a few pictures of products and display set ups.  So - I've put together mini table displays with just a dash of our 'best sellers'.

This is the display table that shows the products available when someone stops by the home studio for a photo shoot.

It's hard to believe it's already Veterans Day and the middle of November. I know the stores and a great many folks are getting ready for Christmas already. My little granddaughter tells me, we need to wait til after Thanksgiving and give the Turkey his time. So we will continue the family traditions of waiting until Thanksgiving weekend to begin the Christmas decorating at our house.

Meanwhile, we need to do some figuring...
Who's coming for Thanksgiving dinner and who's cooking their own, or who wants us over?
I'm almost guessing everyone is doing their own thing for Thanksgiving and I'm going to be stuffing Cornish Game Hens.
It's the perfect Thanksgiving dinner for just a couple people.  Sometimes, there is even a few leftovers!

Well, Tomorrows Monday and I've got to figure out how to get a few things accomplished. Praying for a some guidance and a few blessings along the way.  The Lord knows my needs, knows my heart and knows the answers!

Just a reminder ~ we are taking orders for Holiday Ornaments, for just a couple more weeks.  Simply email the photos you want made into ornaments, the address to ship to and your name and contact information. We will confirm the photos are usable, calculate your shipping fees and send you an invoice. Once payment is received, production will begin. You can expect your ornaments in 2 weeks or less!

Well That Explains It! {POTS Syndrome}

Finally, something that explains it, helps to understand so much about oneself.

Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome

"Fainting", "Blank out"....  freaked people out when you would 'just drop' to the ground.  Doctor said it was the 'thump' of the landing that would 'restart' my heart. Good thing I was standing and not sitting when it would happen.  The word 'stroke' has echoed more than once in the doctors' offices over the years. ...

But that has never been the complete answer... Knowing my mother had heart issues, heart issues were only natural right?

Answers bring comfort.

POTS is an abnormality of the involuntary nervous system. When a person stands ups, blood vessels will contract to combat the force of gravity and increase heart rate to keep blood pumping without any problems to the chest and head. When this contraction doesn’t happen, the heart can overcompensate and cause a spike in heart rate when it doesn’t necessarily need to. That alters blood flow to the brain. There are many symptoms which act as indicators for POTS. These can include: Dizziness, Palpitations, Shaking Chest Pain, Shortness of breath, Lapse in concentration, when getting up Fainting!

Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome is a condition where an unusually significant increase in heart rate accompanies the action of an individual going from lying to standing. It is a common form of autonomic dysregulation characterized as an excessive tachycardia upon standing in the presence of orthostatic intolerance. Current adult diagnostic criterion requires a heart rate increase of greater than or equal to 30 bpm within the initial 10 minutes of standing or head-up tilt (HUT) in the absence of orthostatic hypotension.

POTS predominantly affects premenopausal females between 15 and 50 years of age, manifesting with symptoms of fatigue, headache, palpitations, sleep disturbance, nausea and bloating.

Knowing - brings relief and understanding. That brings comfort.

Happy November!!

It's time to start thinking about Christmas!!
Not the decorations, and especially not the tree.

But it is time to start the gift list and thinking about the 'what should I get {mom/dad}?? for a gift'? What do you get that special someone? How about the favorite co worker? volunteer that is always there when you need a hand..

Are you thinking ...
I want to make it special this year.

For my kids and grandkids they are going to benefit the work I've been doing for Tim and Timbers Photography. I asked everyone to send me some of their favorite all time photos and I've been putting them on mugs and things. I have to tell you it's been so much fun putting everyone's box together and thinking about what pictures should go on what for who.

Mind you I have a complete collection of my grandkids and great grandkids in my kitchen ensemble of coffee mugs for myself. I've finally started collecting for the kitchen. I've lost so much over the years. A table and chair set for fine dining has finally made it's way into my life. Not to mention the Tupperware that is stacking up! {Loving every bit of it}.  I've missed setting the table and sitting down to enjoy a good meal. I love food and I love enjoying the process of a meal, especially with company. { I had 4 kids and we always sat down to dinner before I had to leave for work}. I miss those days. Dirty dishes and all.

Now let's talk about the new ceramic Christmas ornaments.... a way to keep those precious memories alive and enjoyed throughout the holidays.

I've been looking and looking for a way to get family photos on ornaments for the tree. I've found cheap paper, some cardboard, but the ceramic... they were so so expensive to have made! I practically gave up until NOW.

Why, now - I have my own heat press, sublimation printer and new laptop.
I found the ceramic blanks and ..... I've been going through the family photo box!!

The tree is going to look so BEAUTIFUL!!
this year with everyone shining in the sparkling lights
along with all the flavors of candy canes.

I finally bought a new scrap book to put mine back together and add pages for the many babies we've had in the few years it's been slacking... It's still not complete, but I'm getting closer to the 'full family book'.  Need to find a few more scrap book supplies. Ordered what I thought was background sheets for the new pages and it turned out they were little, tiny 2-inch squares. LOL

Sometimes online ordering doesn't work out so well. I recently returned a box of shot glasses once I discovered they were NOT sublimationable. Another 2 dozen went out in a donation, they couldn't be returned. Learn as you go. Make sure to learn something from every experience so you don't make the same mistakes twice, or even three times!

Well, it's up early for event tomorrow. Praying for a good day. Need to pay some bills and with Tim having surgery on the first and needing to pick up his prescriptions {That was a $110 co pay - ouch } We need a good day!!
