Relief

I really need to feel some peace and quiet. The humming in my ears is getting worse, louder and more frequent. I have an appointment with the doctor Monday, I'm hoping she can offer me some sort of relief. It's hard to hear and concentrate. It's gotten to where I have to leave the TV on when I go to sleep just so there is some other noise.

I've heard many folks suffer from this, some worse than others. I remember watching a show where it was so bad the guy tried drilling into his head to get rid of it. I hope in never gets to driving me that crazy. 

When it started I didn't really notice it so much, it was rather quiet. Just there behind all the other noises you hear every day. It has progressively gotten louder and more frequent. I hope it's not something I have to contend with for the rest of my life. 

I shall know more on Monday. Praying for relief.

My StarBright

 

She's the one thing in my life that keeps me grounded. When everything else is out of my control, thoughts spinning in my head and life in an 'unknown' state - she's there. Feet firmly planted on the ground. Whether I ride every day or don't get to ride for a year, she's ready to go. And she loves to go. 

 Yesterday was the first ride in a while. We actually got out on the road and explored new sights. Cars whizzed by and she trotted along as if they didn't even exist. She prances and dances and loves our rides. I think she misses the long ones as much as I do.

 At 29 you would think she's slowed down. The gray hairs are starting to appear mainly on her face. She's earned every one of them. Keeping her healthy has been a priority and it shows. A little out of shape, nothing that a few consistent rides won't cure. We miss the trails and will be working up our endurance together.

We don't get as much time together lately as I would like, so we make it count when we are together. Whether it's a ride, a good brushing or just a vet visit. We connect. 5 minutes with her and the world quiets down and stops spinning. Everything feels brighter. 

She's the best part of life and so worth waking up for.

I Don't Know

 So much of my life is up in the air right now, I don't know what's coming next. So many changes recently, seems when one thing happens it causes an avalanche of events and suddenly everything is changing. 

 I'm in limbo ~ waiting on decisions from others. How they decide will affect the decisions I have to make. Where do we go from here? I don't know. 

 Will everything stay as it is or will I have to change things around? 

 

 Waiting - is the hardest part. 

Until we know - we just keep breathing and moving forward 'one day at a time'. Looking forward to the 'knowing', so I can settle into the new routine, hopefully I shall be able to continue forward with where life is now, I like this routine.

Light Houses of Washington.

Point No Point

I'm about halfway at visiting the lighthouses that are open to the public in Washington. There are between 20-30 light houses and light stations along our coast. However only 13 are open to the public and welcome visitors. Many are decommissioned or on private land.

Point Wilson

Some are on islands and require a trip on the ferry to get to them. A few can be seen from the coast line. I have made it to the 6 that are the easiest to drive to. With 2 more available, they are just further down the state, so I need to plan a day trip.

 

Mukilteo

Several years ago I had the honor of being the camp host at one, the Grays Harbor light house located in West Port. It is the tallest of our lighthouses and you can take a tour all the way up to the light.

Admiralty

Some offer lodging in the keepers quarters, making it a great place to vacation. Many have gift shops filled with history and souvenirs to take home. The perfect way to capture the memories of your visit.  

Browns Point

There are parks connected to many and the beach is accessible to most. Great place to have a picnic, or enjoy a sunset.

Hopefully I will make the journey south before summer's end. 

Meanwhile, I'm working on coffee mugs and various other products with the images of the lighthouses for Christmas gifts. If you know anyone that enjoys the light and would like to give them a taste of Washington's light houses, feel free to place an order. 

Grays Harbor

The little white spot down on the left is the top of my RV. Imagine waking up to this beautiful site every morning. Camp hosting is a great way to experience the life of a light keeper. Plus it helps the historical societies that care for the light houses.

What's in a Name

I haven't had my 'last' name since 1979, I reclaimed it after this divorce. I'm me again! After my first divorce I kept his name for the kids sake with school and other factors. After this divorce I decided to return to 'who I really am'. 

It's taken a couple weeks to change everything over, a few things came with a charge, most were free. My notary license is in the process of changing so it's going to be a few more days before I'm official again.

Live for Today

Save for the future, plan ahead, be prepared. 

We get so wrapped up in the future, we forget to appreciate today. 

Not everyone gets to have tomorrow. Things happen, things change. 

How much time do we spend on the future or the past, that we waste the time we have today. 

Depression takes so much away from us. Worry uses up so much time. 

Looking into the future takes away from the present. 

It's now, in this moment we are alive. We much learn to live it. Even Jesus tells us to 'let go' of tomorrows worry and focus on the now - today.

Don't put off til tomorrow what you can do today.

Enjoy the moments, make the memories. Learn to 'let go' and live. Worry isn't going to accomplish anything except take away from your time now. Give it to God and let it go.

 Enjoy the moment.

God's Way

Let Go {Part 2}

You have went to the alter with it. You left it there. You let go. {Have you really?} You walk away.

Then something happens, it feels like it's going in the opposite direction of what you asked for.

You get scared, concerned. This isn't working the way you planned. This is not what you asked for.

This is going to mess things up completely. 

What happened? 

God, didn't you hear me, weren't you listening?

You feel yourself losing faith, the hope you had fading away.

Stop.

If you truly let go of it, you have to trust God and let Him work His plan - His Way.

It's like the curve in the road. You're heading north, yet as you turn into the bend you find yourself going south. Do you stop and turn around, or keep following the road. A curve to the left, then a curve to the right. Before you know it you are headed north again. You're out of the wood and into the prairies. You can see the horizon now, feel the sun on your shoulder. 

Sometimes we give it to God and we don't understand what happens next. So we bail. We snatch it back and try to do it our own way. What we want, never gets accomplished. 

You have to trust God, give it to Him and truly "Let Go". Let God have His way and follow His instruction. He will lead you to the right place. He will work it out, according to His Plan. 

Jeremiah 7:23 - Obey my voice, and I will be your God.

We can't see the future. We have to trust God and walk in the now. Don't worry about tomorrow, focus on today...

Smoky Haze

 

There are so many fires in our state right now, that where I live it's been hazy for the last couple days and you can smell the fire. So many homes destroyed, lives turned upside down. As much as I love Eastern Washington, I've always been discouraged about living there because of the fires that happen every year. You would think by now that people would be more careful when camping. I know that is not the only cause of many, but it is the cause of some. It's sad, we used to be known as the evergreen state. Now we are more like the charcoal state. Pray for those that are now homeless, and those that have lost loved ones and livestock. Those of us with lung issues, struggling to breathe could use a mention in prayers as well. Not to mention all the men and woman risking their own lives and working out there to put the fires out and save what they can. 90 degree heat on top of it doesn't help. If we ever needed a good hard rain, it's now. 

 If you are a camper please remember to pour water over your firepit before you leave. Make sure your garbage is picked up and help preserve, what's left of our Great Pacific Northwest.
