Diets - Not for the Faint at Heart

It took awhile....

No still haven't done the gut cleansing. Had to get approval with my medications first. Make sure there isn't going to be any conflict.

I spent the first month or so, just to get the weight stabilized. Stop it from going up👏. I was gaining at an incredible rate. Plus, I had to find foods I would eat and give up so many things I enjoyed eating.

It's hard to cook for ONE. I don't like leftovers and I don't like wasting food, so there were challenges to overcome. I have found that "Healthy Choice" frozen entrees are made from real food, not artificial ingredients and they are pretty tasty. Portions are about right for the diet requirements so there is no ''over eating". Nutrition wise they have the protein requirements and low on calories too.

Smoothies are the main course of the diet. Protein drink {1 cup} Greek yogurt {Vanilla, 1/2 cup} and frozen fruit {1 cup} blended together. Breakfast, lunch and if there is a need for something after dinner. 1 actual meal for dinner. {Healthy Choice entree}. Down to just 2 cups of coffee in the morning, plenty of ice water all day.

We've actually lost a few pounds consistently!!! Oh, and I bought a new scale that is far more accurate. I can be true to myself now. 5 pounds don't sound like much but it's a loss rather than a gain so it's a victory!!

Getting in shape is part of the process ~Exercise is still a work in progress; I was given a series of 30 different activities and so far I've only found about 5 of them that doesn't affect the issues with my lower back. Adventures with the dogs has become more of a steady method of exercise. .

However, the trip to the beach the other day required an uphill climb to get back to the Jeep and thankfully I had an inhaler there. I almost didn't make it. Turns out my oxygen numbers are down in the low 90's. My left lung isn't running at full capacity, so I have to be careful in the future and stick to level ground for our walks.

I don't want to end up back on the oxygen machines. Remember I was 41 when the doctor said I'd be on oxygen the rest of my life and my lung only had 5-10 years tops. At 62 I feel I've proven that doctors can be wrong and I aim to make it further than we are so far!.😊 Just got to remember the limitations.
