I hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween. Hope the kids all had fun and the adults enjoyed the moments. It's one of the many holidays I miss having the kids around, dressing up and venturing out in the neighborhood. I miss seeing all the different ghosts, goblins and new costumes come to life.
As the months fly by we are approaching the holiday season already. Thanksgiving is right around the corner. A time for family gatherings. My house used to be so full with all the kids and a few friends. Up early and spending the day cooking a meal that would be devoured in less than a half an hour. Football games for many folks, parades on the TV and laughter. I miss the laughter the most.
Not everyone likes turkey so the traditions have changed. At our house many didn't like the dark meat so half the bird would go to waste. Ham became the new tradition. Although I do enjoy a good turkey sandwich the day after and stuffing just isn't the same coming from a ham lol. Pumpkin pies and spice cake for dessert. It's the only time of year I crave it.
I pray for all the families that don't get together. So much hatred and animosity amongst the tribes. It hurts to see so many grow apart rather than closer together. The Bible speaks of the separation of families in the last days and it's become more common every year. We never think it will happen to us, yet there are so many less families sitting down together every year.
We pray for world peace, and I think we should be praying for peace at home. Pray for those faced with homelessness this time of year as the temperature drops and the freeze sets in. Pray for love and charity to warm the hearts of those frozen cold. Melt the hatred and grow the love.
Thanksgiving isn't about the pilgrims anymore. It's about us, our families and friends. Coming together and being thankful we have each other. May God bring you peace and joy as this holiday season comes upon us. Remember those less fortunate and reach out to those you have lost touch with.
Blessed by God
